Dr. Kara Forsee is a Board-Certified Small Animal Surgeon and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (Small Animal). She earned both her Bachelor’s and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from the University of Missouri, Columbia, where she established a strong foundation for her distinguished career.

Dr. Forsee’s comprehensive training includes a Rotating Internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery at Kansas State University, followed by a specialized Internship in Small Animal Surgery at The Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Texas. She further honed her expertise during her Residency in Small Animal Surgery at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey.

After completing her residency, Dr. Forsee achieved board certification as a small animal veterinary surgeon. She then served as a staff surgeon at a specialty veterinary hospital in the Kansas City area, where she balanced her professional responsibilities with starting a family. Her career path then led her to the research field, where she applied her veterinary and surgical expertise, along with her scientific insight, to contribute to advancements in both human and animal health.

Even while focusing on research, Dr. Forsee continued to provide services to local general and emergency veterinary practices, which ultimately brought her back to a specialized surgical setting. At Phoenix Veterinary Surgical Specialists, she is a vital part of a compassionate, detail-oriented team committed to delivering exceptional patient care and specialty surgical services.

Dr. Forsee’s surgical interests are broad, encompassing both soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Forsee enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends, and pets. She has a passion for volunteering, traveling, playing the piano, and taking her dogs on long walk
